How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Spinach Soy Milk Pulao Recipe

  • Rice chopped 2 bunches

  • Soya milk 2 cups

  • Basmati rice soaked 1 1/2 cups

  • Oil 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Bay leaf 1

  • Cloves 4

  • Black peppercorns 6

  • Black cardamom 1

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies slit 2

  • Carrot diced 1 medium

  • Green peas 2 tablespoons

  • Ginger sliced 1 inch piece

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add bay leaf, cloves, black peppercorns, black cardamom and cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant. Add green chillies, carrot, green peas, ginger and spinach and stir. Add rice and mix. Add soy milk and salt and stir. Add one cu

Cover and cook on medium heat till the rice is done.

Step 3

Serve hot.
