Sift refined flour, whole wheat flour and powdered sugar into a large bowl. Add cinnamon power, baking soda and baking powder and mix well. Peel 3 red apples and chop them roughly. Discard the seeds, transfer the apple pieces into a blender jar and blend into a fine paste. Put the blended paste into another large bowl, add melted butter and milk and whisk till well combined. Add the flour mixture in two batches into the apple mixture and mix gently till a smooth batter is formed. Transfer the batter into a greased and lined 8 inch square cake tin. Gently tap the tin to remove air bubbles if any and spread it evenly. Cut the remaining red apple and green apple into wedges, discard the seeds and thinly slice each wedge. Arrange the red apple slices and green apple slices alternatively and place them on top of the cake until the entire top is covered with the apple slices. Place the cake tin in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Remove the cake tin from the oven and allow to cool slightly. De-mould the cake, cut into squares and arrange on a serving plate.
