Kayloli

This is a Konkani version of cheela or dosa which is so very easy to make and also quite nutritious. It has the goodness of milk which also gives it a unique texture. It is a traditional breakfast item which is served with a chutney of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups rice flour
  • ½ cup semolina (rawa)
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • 1½ teaspoons red chilli powder
  • ¾ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1½ cups milk
  • Oil for cooking
  • Coconut chutney to serve

Method

  1. Take rice flour in a bowl, add semolina, green chillies, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
  2. Add milk and 1½ cups water and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Heat a non-stick tawa. Spread a ladleful of batter evenly. Drizzle some oil around and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or till the underside is golden brown.
  4. Flip and cook on other side for 2-3 minutes more. Use up the remaining batter similarly.
  5. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
