Neer Dosa

Soft and light dosas or lacy crepe are a popular Mangalorean snack that can be had for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Made from ground rice they are vegan and gluten-free and have beautiful texture. Just get the batter ready and you are set to create some mouthwatering neer dosas.

  1. Take idli rice in a large bowl, add water and wash thoroughly for 2-3 times. Add fresh water and let it soak for 6-8 hours. Drain and transfer the rice into a mixer jar. 
  2. Add 1 cup water and grind to a fine paste. Transfer into a large bowl, add 1 cup water and salt and mix till well combined. 
  3. Heat a non-stick tawa.
  4. Dip half an onion in some oil and grease the tawa with it. Drizzle the batter and spread it evenly to make a thin layer. Cover and cook on medium heat for 1-2 minutes. Drizzle ghee and fold the neer dosa in a triangle. Make more dosas similarly. 
  5. Arrange on a serving plate. Serve with coconut chutney.
