Street Style Cheese Masala Toast

Ingredients

  • Processed cheese as required
  • 8 white bread slices
  • 1½ tablespoons oil
  • 1½ tablespoons crushed ginger-garlic-green chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Butter for applying
  • Green chutney for applying + to serve
  • Onion roundels as required
  • Tomato roundels as required
  • Boiled beetroot roundels as required
  • Sandwich masala for sprinkling
  • Sev for sprinkling
  • Tomato ketchup to serve    

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add crushed ginger-garlic-green chilies and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add salt and turmeric powder, mix well and saute for 1 minute.
  3. Add boiled potatoes and coriander leaves, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and let it cool.
  4. Apply butter on 4 slices of bread, apply green chutney over each slice and spread a portion of the potato mixture over each slice. Place a few onion roundels, tomato roundels, boiled beetroot roundels, sprinkle sandwich masala and grate cheese over it. Place remaining bread slices on top to make sandwiches. Apply some butter over them.
  5. Grease a toaster with some butter and place one sandwich in it, close and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, flip and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Place the sandwich on a worktop and cut into 4 triangles. Similarly toast the remaining sandwiches. 
  7. Place the sandwich triangles on serving plates, apply some more butter on top, grate some processed cheese and sprinkle sev. Serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
