How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Prep Time : 6-10 minutes

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Ingredients for Badishep Fennel Bhaat Recipe

  • Rice soaked 2 cups

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Bay leaves 3

  • Cinnamon 2 inch stick

  • Onions sliced 4 medium

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaves and cinnamon and saute for two minutes.

Step 2

Add sliced onions and saute till translucent. Add turmeric powder and rice and mix well and saute for two minutes.

Step 3

Add one cup of water to coconut milk powder and mix well.Add this paste to the rice along with coconut, fennel powder and salt.

Step 4

Add enough water to the rice and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Serve hot with curries.
