Ingredients list for Bajra Khichdi

  • 1 cup Bajra soaked
  • 1/2 cup Split Green Gram soaked
  • 1 cup + to serve Pure ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 7-8 Cloves
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Ginger grated
  • 1 Green chilli broken
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Drain and put bajra in a chopper jar and crush.
    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, cloves, ginger and sauté till fragrant.
  2. Add bajra and chilkewali moong dal and mix well and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
    Add green chilli, turmeric powder and salt.
    Sauté for 2 minutes. Add 4 cups water and mix.
  3. Put the lid on and cook under pressure till 4-5 whistles are given out.
    Let it stand till pressure reduces completely.
    Serve hot with ghee or yogurt.
