Ingredients for Basil Flavoured Rice Pudding With Grilled Tangerin Recipe

  • Basil leaves 3-4

  • Orange 1/2

  • Arborio rice cooked 1/2 cup

  • Milk 1 cup

  • Almonds 7-8

  • Pistachios 7-8

  • Brown sugar 13/4 + 1/2 tablespoons

  • Cream 1 tablespoon

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan on medium heat. Chop basil leaves and add. Roughly chop pistachios and almonds and add. Add rice and mix and cook.

Step 2

Peel the orange with a sharp knife and then cut into thin wedges. Add 1 ¾ tbsps brown sugar to the rice mixture. Add cream and mix well. When the mixture thickens, take the pan off the heat and set aside.

Step 3

Heat another non-stick pan, add orange wedges, sprinkle castor sugar and a ½ tbsp brown sugar and cook for 1 minute. Cut the orange skin into thin slices and add and mix well.

Step 4

Take the pan off the heat. Put the orange slices in serving bowls, put the pudding alongside, garnish with a few orange peel slivers and basil leaves, and serve warm or cold.
