Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Beetroot Tikki-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Medium beetroots boiled, peeled and mashed 4

  • Medium potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 2

  • Medium onion finely chopped 1

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger-green chilli paste 1/2 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Rice flour 1 tablespoon

  • Oil for drizzling

Method

Step 1

Mix together beetroot and potatoes in a bowl.

Step 2

Heat a non-stick pan. Add onion and dry roast till light golden.

Step 3

Add salt, ginger-green chilli paste and chaat masala to the bowl.

Step 4

Add the roasted onion to the bowl and mix well. Add rice flour and mix well.

Step 5

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into tikkis.

Step 6

Heat a non-stick tawa. Place the tikkis on it, drizzle some oil on top and fry, turning sides, till evenly done on both the sides.

Step 7

Serve hot.
