Ingredients list for Chana Dal Tikki

  • 1 1/2 cups Split Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked for 2-3 hours and drained
  • 1 Medium onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 2-3 Green chillies chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Gram flour
  • to shallow fry Oil
  • to serve Tomato ketchup

Method

  1. Put split Bengal gram into a food processor jar, add onion, coriander leaves, green chillies, turmeric powder, chaat masala, garam masala, ginger and salt and process to a coarse paste.
  2. Transfer this mixture into a bowl, add gram flour and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick tawa, place the tikkis in it and cook, turning sides, till both sides are golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper
  4. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
