Ingredients for Chanadal Halwa Recipe

  • Split Bengal gram (chana dal) Soaked in water for 3-4 hours 1 cup

  • Khoya/mawa grated 1/2 cup

  • Ghee 1/2 cup + teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cashewnuts finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Raisins for garnish 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat ½ cup ghee in a non stick pan. Add chana dal and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously.

Step 2

Add khoya, sugar and green cardamom powder and cook for 8-10 minutes on low heat, stirring continuously, till the mixture thickens.

Step 3

Heat ½ tsp ghee in another non stick pan, add cashewnuts and raisins and sauté till they turn golden.

Step 4

Transfer the halwa into a serving bowl. Garnish with cashewnuts and raisins and serve.
