This recipe is from FoodFood TV channel By Sanjeev Kapoor 09 Nov 2017 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Rice, Split pigeon pea (toor dal/arhar dal) Cuisine Gujarati Course Rice Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Char Dal Ni Khichdi 3/4 cup Rice soaked 1 1/2 tablespoons Split pigeon pea (toor dal/arhar dal) soaked 1 1/2 tablespoons Split red lentil (masoor dal) soaked 3 tablespoons Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal),soaked 1 1/2 tablespoons Split field beans (val ki dal) soaked 3 tablespoons Desi ghee 1 inch stick Cinnamon 1 Black cardamom 3-4 Cloves 2 medium Onions sliced 1/4 bunch Fresh coriander leaves 10-15 Fresh mint leaves 1 inch piece Ginger 1/2 cup Buttermilk to taste Sea salt 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder Method Heat desi ghee in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, black cardamom, cloves and onions and saute. Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger and buttermilk till smooth. Add field beans, pigeon pea, split lentils and green gram to the cooker and mix. Add rice and mix. Add sea salt, turmeric powder and spiced buttermilk and mix. Add 3½ cups water and mix. When the mixture comes to a boil, cover the cooker and cook under pressure till 3-4 whistles are given out. Serve hot.
