Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheese and Coriander Parantha Recipe

  • Cheese grated 1 cup

  • Fresh Coriander Leaves chopped 1/2 cup

  • Whole wheat flour (atta) 1 3/4 cups for dusting

  • Salt to taste

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Ginger chopped 1 inch piece

  • Chaat masala 2 teaspoons

  • Oil to shallow fry

Method

Step 1

Place whole wheat flour and salt in a bowl. Add coriander leaves and enough water and knead into a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and rest it for twenty to twenty-five minutes.

Step 2

Divide the dough into eight equal portions and shape into balls.Mix together the green chillies, onion, ginger, salt, chaat masala and cheese. Divide the mixture into eight equal portions.

Step 3

Roll out each ball of dough into a medium-sized chapatti. Place one portion in the centre of each chapatti, gather the edges and roll into a ball. Roll out into a round parantha.

Step 4

Heat a non stick tawa, place a parantha on it and cook for half a minute. Flip over, drizzle a little oil all around. Flip it once more and drizzle a little oil again. Cook till both sides are light golden and crisp.

Step 5

Cut into four pieces and serve immediately.
