Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken Dal Pakode Recipe

  • Boneless chicken breasts 250 grams

  • Bengal gram (chana dal ) soaked 1 cup

  • Split black gram (dhuli urad dal) soaked ½ cup

  • Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal) soaked ½ cup

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder ½ teaspoon

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Rice flour for dusting


Step 1

Cut chicken into strips and mix with lemon juice, half the red chilli powder, salt and ginger-garlic paste. Set aside to marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2

Put Bengal gram, black gram and green gram in a blender jar and blend into a thick paste using water if required.

Step 3

Put gram paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, remaining red chilli powder and salt in a bowl and mix well.

Step 4

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Spread rice flour on a plate.

Step 5

Dust the marinated chicken strips in the flour, coat well with the gram paste mixture and gently slide into hot oil. Deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Serve hot.
