And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Dahi Wale Aloo - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 3 medium

  • Yogurt 4-5 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies broken into small pieces 1-2

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander sprigs for garnish


Step 1

Take potato cubes in a bowl, add salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 2

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, add 1 tsp cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes. Add green chillies and asafoetida and mix well.

Step 3

Add potatoes and mix well. Add sugar and coriander leaves and mix well. Add 1 cup water and a pinch of salt and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add lemon juice, and mix well. Take the pan off the heat and transfer into a bowl. Add yogurt and mix well.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve.
