Yes, though other meats being more common, biryani eaters all over the world can easily swear by mutton. And not just biryanis, curries, bakes and all other preparations with this wonderful meat are always special. Did you know, unlike other dishes, a day-old mutton prep will always be all the more tastier on the palate! Try it the next time you plan on to take on this meat.

Ingredients for Dumwala Gosht Recipe

  • Boneless Mutton 1 inch cubes 900 grams

  • Yogurt 6 tablespoons

  • Onions chopped 2 large

  • Garlic chopped 6 cloves

  • Dry ginger powder (soonth) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Yogurt whisked 1 1/4 cups


Step 1

Apply salt to the mutton cubes and keep aside. Heat oil in a thick-bottomed vessel and sauté the mutton pieces till well browned all round. Drain and keep aside.

Step 2

Add onions and garlic to the remaining hot oil and sauté till golden brown. Add browned meat, ginger powder, red chilli powder, salt and black pepper powder.

Step 3

Mix well and stir for two to three minutes. Add yogurt and bring to a boil. Cover with a lid and seal the lid with dough.

Step 4

Lower the heat and simmer for about an hour or till the meat is well done and tender. Serve hot.
