You should always stack your fridge with at least a dozen of them. Why? Handiest food to have around! Kids are hungry? Make some egg sandwiches. Guests come in, make an egg curry or egg biryani. You are hungry? Poach an egg and have it topped with stir fried veggies – perfect protein source for the body! Check the freshness – keep a raw egg in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs will stay at the bottom while stale eggs stand on end or float.

Ingredients for Egg and Cheese Poppers - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Eggs boiled, peeled and chopped 3

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 1/2 cup

  • Cheddar cheese grared 1/2 cup

  • Spring onion greens chopped 3 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Mayonnaise 1 tablespoon

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Cheese balls 1 cup

  • Refined flour slurry as required

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Take eggs in a bowl, add mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, spring onion greens, salt, crushed black pepper and mayonnaise and mix well.

Step 2

Divide the egg and cheese mixture into equal portions and shape them into balls.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.

Step 4

Put cheese balls in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin. Transfer into a plate.

Step 5

Take refined flour slurry in a bowl. Dip each egg ball in the flour slurry and coat with crushed cheese balls. Once again dip the balls in slurry and coat with crushed cheese balls.

Step 6

Gently slide the egg balls into hot oil and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 7

Arrange them in a serving bowl and serve hot with ketchup.
