Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Fruit And Capsicum Kachumber Recipe

  • Fruits sliced thinly 2 medium

  • Vegetables seeded, and cut into strips 1 medium

  • Oranges 2 medium

  • Green grapes halved 12-15

  • Black grapes halved 12-15

  • Lemon rind 2 tablespoons

  • Cucumber sliced thinly 1 medium

  • Tomatoes seeded, and cut into strips 2 medium

  • Spring onions sliced thinly 2


  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh mint leaves torn 8-10

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Chaat masala 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Apply one tablespoon lemon juice to apple slices to prevent discolouration.

Step 2

Peel oranges and separate the segments.

Step 3

Remove seeds and halve each of them.

Step 4

Mix coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, chaat masala, salt and remaining lemon juice to make a dressing.

Step 5

Toss the prepared fruits and vegetables in the dressing and serve chilled.
