Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.
Noteworthy changes in Italian cuisine happened with the discovery of the New World and the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, which are now an integral part of this cuisine.  Italian cuisine is known for its regional diversity each with a distinct taste.  This cuisine today is probably one of the most popular in the world.

Ingredients for Grilled Calzone-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Readymade pizza dough 250 grams

  • Onion finely chopped 1/2 cup

  • Red capsicum finely chopped 1/4 cup

  • Green capsicum finely chopped 1/4 cup

  • Corn kernels boiled 1/2 cup

  • Boneless chicken boiled and shredded 150 grams

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Refined flour (maida) for dusting

  • Pizza sauce 4 tablespoons

  • Oil for grilli


Step 1

Knead the dough a little and divide into 4 equal portions.

Step 2

Mix together onion, red capsicum, green capsicum, corn kernels, chicken, mozzarella cheese, salt and crushed peppercorns in a bowl.

Step 3

Dust the worktop with some flour, place the dough portions on it and roll out into thin discs.

Step 4

Spread 1 tablespoon pizza sauce on half the disc and place generous amount of chicken mixture on top. Bring over the edge and fold into a crescent shape. Seal the edges with a fork. Similarly make more calzones.

Step 5

Heat some oil in a non-stick grill pan. Place the calzones on it and grill, turning sides, till evenly done on both the sides. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Halve and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
