Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Indian Style Crab Soup - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Crabs cleaned 2

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Black peppercorns 4-5

  • Bay leaves

  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch Stick

  • Medium onion finely chopped 1

  • Medium tomato finely chopped 1

  • Salt to taste

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat butter in a non-stick pan add peppercorns, bay leaves, cinnamon and onion and mix. Saute till lightly browned. Add tomato and salt and cook for 3-4 minutes

Step 2

Add crabs and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add garlic, ginger, turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 3

Add 5 cups of water and cook on low heat for 10-12 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the crab pieces and strain the soup into a bowl.

Step 5

Place the crab pieces in a serving bowl and pour the strained soup over it.

Step 6

Serve piping hot.
