Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Jackfruit seed Halwa Recipe

  • Jackfruit Seeds 10-12

  • Milk 1 1/2 cup

  • Ghee 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar 1 cup

  • Green cardamom peeled and crushed 2

  • Cashewnuts

  • Raisins 8

Method

Step 1

Cut jackfruit seeds into halves and pressure cook jackfruit seeds in enough water for 3 whistles till tender.

Step 2

Peel off the plastic like skin from cooked jackfruit seeds and roughly chop them. Blend jack fruit seeds with milk till smooth consistancy.

Step 3

Heat ghee in a non stick pan add the jackfruit mixture and sugar and cook till the mixture thickens.

Step 4

Add green cardamon, cashewnuts and raisins and mix cook for a minute. Serve hot.
