Jain Sizzler

This sizzler has no root vegetables and therefore can be enjoyed by the Jains.Wholesome sizzler with fresh vegetables made jain style. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 3-4 raw bananas, boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 3 tablespoons pressed rice (poha), soaked
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • Oil to shallow fry
  • 3-4 cabbage leaves
  • 100 grams boiled noodles 
  • 8-10 French beans, boiled and cut into diamonds
  • 150 grams paneer (cottage cheese),cut into cubes
  • ½ cup boiled sweet corn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Sauce 

  • ½ cup boiled tomato puree 
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons tomato ketchup

Method

  1. Combine bananas, pressed rice, salt, garam masala powder, green chillies and sugar in a bowl and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan. Place patties on it, drizzle oil on it and shallow-fry till crisp and golden from both sides.
  3. To make sauce, heat tomato puree in another non-stick pan. Add chilli flakes, dried herbs and salt, mix well and cook for a minute.
  4. Add tomato ketchup and little water, stir to mix and cook for 3-4 minutes. Transfer into a bowl.
  5. Heat a sizzler plate. Place cabbage leaves on it. Put patties on it, place noodles, beans, cottage cheese, sweet corn all over.
  6. Remove sizzler plate onto the wooden base. Pour prepared sauce all over and top with butter.
  7. Serve immediately.
