Ingredients list for Kairi Poha

  • 1 Raw mango
  • 2 cups Pressed rice (poha) soaked and drained
  • 2-3 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 8-10 Curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Raw peanuts
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1 medium Potato boiled
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup Green peas boiled
  • Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • for garnish Fresh coriander sprigs

Method

  1. Heat oil in non stick pan. Roughly chop onion.
  2. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion to the pan and sauté till the onion is well browned.
  3. Peel and roughly chop raw mango
  4. Add raw peanuts and green chillies to the pan. Roughly chop boiled potato and add alongwith turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix well.
  5. Add green peas, raw mango, salt and sugar. Mix well and add poha. Sprinkle a little water and toss to mix.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot garnished with coriander sprig.
