Ingredients for Mag ni Dhokli Recipe

  • Green gram ( moong) flour 1 cup

  • Turmeric powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Coriander-cumin powder 1 1/4 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 3 tablespoons + for greasing

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Take green gram flour in a bowl, add¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon coriander-cumin powder, salt, 2 tablespoons oil and sufficient water and knead into a soft dough.

Step 2

Boil sufficient water in a non-stick pan.

Step 3

Grease your palms with little oil. Divide the dough into small equal portions and shape each portion into coin shaped dhokli.

Step 4

Add the dhoklis to the boiling water and cookon high heat for 10-15 minutes or till the dhoklis rise to the surface. Remove the pan from heat and set aside.

Step 5

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in another non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and once they begin to splutter, add remaining turmeric powder, remaining coriander-cumin powder, remaining red chilli powder and dhoklis along with the water in which they were cooked. Add salt, mix well and cook for 5 minutes or till the oil separates.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
