Ingredients list for Masala Peanut Onion Rings

  • 4-5 medium Onions sliced into roundels and rings separated
  • 1 cup Masala peanuts
  • 1 cup Cornflakes
  • 1/2 cup Refined flour (maida)
  • 2 tablespoons Cornflour
  • to taste Salt
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • to sprinkle Red chilli powder
  • to sprinkle Chaat masala

Method

  1. Coarsely grind peanuts. Add cornflakes and grind into a fine powder. Transfer the powder into a bowl.
  2. Mix refined flour and cornflour in another bowl. Add water, little by little, and whisk well till you get a smooth thick batter of coating consistency. Add salt and whisk again.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  4. Dip the onion rings, one by one, in the batter till they are coated evenly. Roll in the peanut-cornflakes powder and slide into the hot oil. Deep-fry in till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Sprinkle red chilli powder and chaat masala over them and serve hot.
