Ingredients
- ¾ cup split red lentils (masoor dal), soaked for 1 hour and drained
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped garlic
- ½ tsp crushed black peppercorns
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 medium tomato, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Method
- Heat a pressure cooker, add onion, garlic, masoor dal and mix well.
- Add crushed black peppercorns, red chilli powder and salt and mix well.
- Add tomato, 3 cups water, lemon juice and mix well.
- Cover and cook on medium heat till 3-4 whistles are released.
- Open the cooker once the pressure settles completely.
- Transfer in a grinder jar, add 1 cup water and grind to fine puree.
- Transfer in a serving bowl, garnish with mint sprigs and serve.
