How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Cook time : 16-20 minutes

Ingredients for Mixed Sprout Tahiri Recipe

  • Rice sprouted 1/2 cup

  • Brown Bengal Gram sprouted 1/4 cup

  • Matki sprouts sprouted 1/4 cup

  • Rice soaked 1 cup

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cloves 7-8

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green chillies slit 2

  • Potatoes cubed 2 medium

  • Cauliflower 7-8 florets

  • Salt to taste

  • Buttermilk 1 1/2 cups

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a rice cooker which is put on cook mode. Add cloves and cumin seeds and sauté.

Step 2

Slice onion and add along with asafoetida and green chillies and sauté. Add sprouted kala chana, moong and matki and mix.

Step 3

Add cauliflower, potatoes, rice and salt and mix well. Add 1½ cups water and buttermilk and mix well.

Step 4

Cover the cooker and cook till done. Serve hot.
