Ingredients list for Oatmeal Fried Fish

  • 400 grams Fish boneless cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 cup Oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoon Red chilli paste
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • to taste Salt
  • ½ Egg
  • for shallow frying Mustard oil
  • for servin 1-2 lemon wedges
  • for servin Fresh mint sprigs
  • 1 Green chilli slit
  • for servin Spring onion green

Method

  1. Put fish pieces in a bowl. Add red chilli paste, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 25 minutes.
  2. Beat egg in a bowl. Add beaten egg to the marinated fish pieces and mix well.
  3. Take oatmeal in another bowl.
  4. Heat sufficient mustard oil in a non-stick pan.
  5. Coat marinated fish pieces, one by one, in the oatmeal and place in the pan. Shallow-fry, turning sides, till well done and golden and crisp from both sides.
  6. Transfer onto a serving plate and serve hot with mint sprigs, lemon wedges, green chilli and spring onion flower.
