Oats Thalipeeth

One of the most popular breakfast snacks amongst the Maharashtrian, this thalipeeth has oats flour replacing the traditional bhajanee flour This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Oats Thalipeeth

  • 1 1/2 cups Oats flour
  • 1-2 Green chillies , chopped
  • 1 small Carrot , peeled and grated
  • 1 large Onion , chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves , chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt
  • for drizzling Oil
  • to serve Green chuntey

Method

  1. Take oats flour in a bowl, add green chillies, carrot, onion, coriander leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well.
  2. Add 1 cup water, and knead into soft dough.
  3. Take a non-stick tawa, place a portion of the dough in the centre, dip your fingers in water and spread it into a thick disc. Make a few holes in the center.
  4. Place the non-stick tawa on heat and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium heat. Drizzle a little oil all around and into the holes. Cook till the underside turns golden, flip and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes or till golden and crisp. Make more thalipeeth with the remaining dough.
  5. Place each thalipeeth on individual serving plates and serve hot with green chutney.
