Ingredients for Pan Roasted Sambar Flavored Basa With Onions Recipe

  • Sambar Powder 2 tablespoons

  • Basa cut into 1 inch cubes 400 grams

  • Shallots sliced 20-25

  • Sugar a pinch

  • Crushed red chillies 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Button red chillies (bor mirchi) 8-10

  • Curry leaves 10-15

  • Asafoetida a pinch

Method

Step 1

Combine the sambar masala, sugar, crushed red chillies and salt in a bowl. Add the fish cubes and mix well and set aside for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Heat oil in non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, button chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida and shallots.

Step 3

Sauté for two to three minutes or till the shallots are soft.

Step 4

Add the marinated fish and mix gently. Cook on medium heat for seven to eight minutes.

Step 5

Serve hot with steamed rice.
