Ingredients list for Pan Roasted Sambar Flavored Basa With Onions
- 2 tablespoons Sambar Powder
 - 400 grams Basa cut into 1 inch cubes
 - 20-25 Shallots sliced
 - a pinch Sugar
 - 1 teaspoon Crushed red chillies
 - to taste Salt
 - 2 tablespoons Oil
 - 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
 - 8-10 Button red chillies (bor mirchi)
 - 10-15 Curry leaves
 - a pinch Asafoetida
 
Method
- Combine the sambar masala, sugar, crushed red chillies and salt in a bowl. Add the fish cubes and mix well and set aside for 15 minutes.
 - Heat oil in non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, button chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida and shallots.
 - Sauté for two to three minutes or till the shallots are soft.
 - Add the marinated fish and mix gently. Cook on medium heat for seven to eight minutes.
 - Serve hot with steamed rice.
