Super healthy, cabbage goes a long way back. In ancient times, the Greeks treated it as a special food for its many medicinal properties. There are tales about raw cabbage juice being a standard treatment for a nasty hangover! Salads, dals, sabzis, pickles and even raitas, cabbage does full justice to each preparation. Shop for the ones that have a crisp, shiny look to it.

Ingredients for Pickled Cabbage Recipe

  • Cabbage 1 medium

  • Schezwan Chutney 2 teaspoons

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Soy sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 2 teaspoons

  • Vinegar 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Roughly shred cabbage.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cabbage, Schezwan chutney and soy sauce and mix well. Add salt and mix again. Add sugar and vinegar and mix well. Switch off the heat and transfer into a bowl.

Step 3

Refrigerate for 3-4 hours and serve as an accompaniment.
