Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Raw Banana and Sweet Potato Pav Bhaji Recipe

  • Medium raw bananas boiled, peeled and grated 2

  • Medium sweet potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 2

  • Pav 8

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Ginger grated 1 inches

  • Medium tomatoes chopped 2

  • Tata Sampann Pav Bhaji Masala 1 sachet (

  • Tomato puree 1/2 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Medium green capsicum finely chopped 1

  • Butter 2 tablespo For topping

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh coriander sprig for garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté till the seeds change colour.

Step 2

Add ginger and sauté well. Add tomatoes, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add Tata Sampann Pav Bhaji Masala, mix well and sauté for a minute.

Step 3

Add tomato puree and mix well. Add raw bananas, sweet potatoes, salt and mix well.

Step 4

Add 2½ cups water, stir, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes. Add capsicum, 2 tablespoons butter, lemon juice and mix. Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 5

Transfer in a serving bowl. Top with a dollop of butter, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot with pav.
