Dessert is mostly referred to a final sweet course that concludes a meal, but those with a serious sweet tooth will agree that anytime is dessert time. The array of ingredients that you can use to prepare these decadent delights gives you plenty of room for innovation and variety.

Ingredients for Sahlab Recipe

  • Milk 2 cups

  • Cornflour 4 tablespoons

  • Rose water 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/4 cup

  • Cinnamon powder to sprinkle

  • Almonds chopped for topping

  • Desiccated coconut for topping

  • Pistachios chopped for topping

  • Honey for drizzling

Method

Step 1

Take cornflour in a bowl and add sufficient water and whisk till you get a smooth mixture.

Step 2

Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan, add cornflour mixture and cook stirring continuously.

Step 3

Add rose water and sugar, mix well and cook till the custard thickens. Switch off the heat, pour into silicon moulds and set aside to cool down to room temperature. Then keep the moulds in the refrigerator to set.

Step 4

Remove the moulds from the refrigerator, place each on a separate serving plates upside down and demould.

Step 5

Sprinkle cinnamon powder over them, top with almonds, pistachios and desiccated coconut. Drizzle honey on top and serve chilled.
