Every country in the world has its own elaborate styles of making bread which vary from being utterly simple to categorically complex. The quality of ingredients, precise measures, timings, methods and techniques of making these breads is what contributes to each bread having a unique character of its own.

Ingredients for Sheermal-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Refined flour (maida) 2 cups

  • Milk 3/4 cup

  • Saffron a few strands

  • Castor sugar 1 tablespoon

  • Screwpine water (kevda jal) 1/4 teaspoon

  • Ghee melted 1/4 cup

  • Butter for greasing

Method

Step 1

Heat milk in a non-stick pan.

Step 2

Take saffron strands in a small bowl, add 2-3 tablespoons warm milk from the pan and mix well.

Step 3

Add castor sugar to the pan and mix till it dissolves.

Step 4

Put flour in a bowl. Add sweetened milk and screwpine essence, mix and knead into a soft dough. Cover with muslin cloth and set aside for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Preheat oven to 240º C.

Step 6

Add ghee, knead again, cover with a muslin cloth and set aside for 10 minutes.

Step 7

Divide the dough into equal portions, dust with some flour and roll out into discs. Prick the entire surface with a fork.

Step 8

Grease a baking tray with some butter.

Step 9

Arrange the discs on the greased tray, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes.

Step 10

Remove the tray from the oven and brush with some saffron milk. Put the tray back in the preheated oven and bake for 3-4 minutes.

Step 11

Serve immediately.
