Ingredients list for Soya Matar Masala

  • 1 cup Soya chyunks soaked in warm water
  • 1/2 cup Green peas
  • 3 Small onions peeled and quartered
  • 2 Medium tomatoes quartered
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Cumin powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • to garnish Fresh coriander sprig

Method

  1. Put onions in a blender jar, add tomatoes and blend into a fine puree.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let their colour change. Add ginger-garlic paste, mix and sauté for 1 minute or till the raw smells disappear. Add the onion-tomato puree, mix well and saute on high heat for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and coriander powder, mix well and cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add soya chunks, green peas and garam masala powder, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add coriander leaves, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
