Treasure house of vitamins and minerals, spinach must be included in the week's menu. The usage can be varied: chopped spinach leaves cooked with potatoes is a semi-wet vegetable with rotis, a few spinach leaves thrown in with mixed vegetables and turned into a soup is lovely on a cold winter night, chopped and blanched spinach makes a different sort of raita, spinach puree can be used in cutlets or kababs, the list goes on.

Ingredients for Spinach And Pea Soup Recipe

  • Fresh spinach leaves (palak) roughly chopped 2 bunches

  • Shelled green peas boiled 1 cup

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • White pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Vegetable stock 1 1/2 cup

  • Milk 1 1/2 cup


Step 1

Heat oil in a deep non stick pan. Chop onion, add and sauté.

Step 2

Shred spinach and add and continue to sauté. Add green peas, salt, white pepper powder and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Transfer into a mixer jar, cool slightly, add vegetable stock and puree.

Step 4

Transfer the puree back into the pan, add milk and bring to a boil.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
