Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Tadka Chaas - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Buttermilk (chaas) 1 litres

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ghee 3 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh mint leaves chopped 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Take buttermilk in a large bowl, add red chilli powder and salt and mix well.

Step 2

For tempering, heat ghee in a non-stick pan and add cumin seeds. When they change colour, add turmeric powder and sauté for ½ minute. Switch off heat and add it to buttermilk mixture and mix well.

Step 3

Add coriander leaves and mint leaves and mix well. Let it stand for 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Pour the chaas into serving glasses and serve immediately.
