Ingredients list for Til Peetha

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 5 tablespoons Black sesame seeds
  • 100 grams Jaggery (gur)
  • to fry Ghee

Method

  1. Soak the rice overnight. Drain and grind to a thick fine paste. Keep it covered in an airtight container. Clean and dry roast the sesame seeds.
  2. Pour into a mortar and pound them roughly. Grate the jaggery and add the roughly pounded sesame seeds. Mix with your fingertips. Heat a tawa to medium hot. Grease it with ghee. Spread a ladleful of the rice batter to the size of a small puri.
  3. When the batter becomes firm, place a spoonful of the filling in the center and fold over the sides of the rice puri over it. Remove and leave it to cool. Take care that the pitha does not brown, it should remain white.
