Ingredients list for Whole Wheat Pasta With Walnut Pesto
- 200 grams Wholewheat penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons Walnut kernels
- 12-14 Baby tomatoes halved
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Crushed red chillies
- Walnut pesto
- 8-10 Walnut kernels crushed
- 3/4 cup Basil leaves
- 3-4 cloves Garlic
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese grated
Method
- Heat oil in a pan, add the baby tomatoes and salt.
- Cover and cook.
- Grind together basil leaves, walnuts, garlic, salt and two tablespoons olive oil till smooth.
- Add two tablespoons parmesan cheese and grind.
- Meanwhile boil water in a deep pan.
- Put the penne in a colander, sprinkle salt and place it in the boiling water.
- Cover and cook till just done.
- When the tomatoes soften, crush them with the back of the ladle.
- Add the walnut pesto, crushed red chillies and mix well.
- Drain the pasta and add to the pesto sauce and mix well.
- Sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese and serve hot immediately.
