Ingredients 

  • 4 frozen masala mackerels (bangda)
  • ¼ cup semolina
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • A few onion rings
  • 2 lemon slices
  • 1 sprig fresh coriander to garnish

Method

  1. Mix semolina, rice flour, salt and red chilli powder in a plate.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
  3. Remove the frozen marinated mackerels from the packet and roll in the semolina mixture.
  4. Put them in the pan and shallow-fry. When the underside turns golden, turn them over and cook the other side similarly. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange them on a serving plate. Garnish with onion rings, lemon slices and coriander sprig and serve hot.
