Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup chocolate + to sprinkle 
  • 1 teaspoon green cardamom seeds
  • 5-6 cloves
  • 6-7 black peppercorns
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Method

  1. Combine fennel seeds, cardamom seeds, cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, nutmeg powder and ginger in a mortar. Crush with a pestle into a coarse mixture.
  2. Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan. Add crushed spice mixture and vanilla extract. Stir to mix and bring to a boil.
  3. Add chocolate powder and stir to mix. Add honey and stir again.
  4. Strain the drink into 4 individual cups. Sprinkle little chocolate powder on top and serve hot.
