Cherry Halwa

A rich halwa of semolina, khoya, almonds, pistachios, cashewnuts flavoured generously with cherries. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Cherry Halwa

  • 500 grams Cherries pitted
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 tablespoons Semolina (rawa/suji)
  • 3 tablespoons Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Khoya/mawa grated
  • 1 tablespoon Almonds chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Pistachios chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cashewnuts chopped
  • a pinch Green cardamom powder
  • for garnishing Rose syrup 3 tablespoons +

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add semolina and sauté till light brown.
  2. Add cherries, mix well and cook till cherries are soft and pulpy.
  3. Add sugar, khoya, almonds, pistachios, cashewnuts, cardamom powder and rose syrup. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Serve hot garnished with rose syrup and pistachios.
