Crab Tikki

Crab tikki is a delicious variant of the classic Aloo Tikki, where crispy potato patties are replaced with flavorful crab cakes made with succulent crab meat, spices, and herbs. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams crab meat
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder 
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric (haldi) powder 
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons dried breadcrumbs
  • Semolina (rawa) for coating
  • Oil for shallow-frying
  • Green chutney for garnishing
  • Onion rings for garnishing
  • Lemon wedges for garnishing
  • Mint leaves for garnishing

Method

  1. In a bowl, add crab meat, onion, garlic, green chilli, garam masala powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, salt, coriander leaves and mix well. Add breadcrumbs, mix and set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Make round tikkis of the marinated mixture flattening them with hands.
  3. On a plate, add rawa and coat the tikkis with it completely. 
  4. Heat a non-stick pan, add oil and pan-fry the tikkis till golden brown on both sides. Drain on an absorbent paper. 
  5. Serve on a platter with green chutney, onions rings, lemon wedges and mint leaves.
