By Sanjeev Kapoor 15 Nov 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Bottle gourd (lauki/doodhi), Fresh coconut Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 6-10 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Doodhi Bhopda Bhaji 1 medium Bottle gourd (lauki/doodhi) peeled and cut into cubes ½ cup Fresh coconut scraped 1 tablespoon Oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds ¼ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1-2 Green chillies chopped a pinch Asafoetida 1 medium Onion finely chopped to taste Salt 1 teaspoon Sugar to taste Crushed black peppercorns Method Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and let them splutter. Add green chillies, asafoetida and bottle gourd and mix well. Add onion and sauté for a minute. Add some water, mix, cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Add salt and little water, mix, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add sugar, crushed peppercorns, coconut and some water, mix, cover and cook for a minute. Serve hot.
