Gajar Halwa

Grated carrots, khoya, sugar, ghee and nuts cooked together to make this delicious Indian sweet dish.popularly known as gajar ka halwa makes its presence in most special occasions like festivals, celebrations and parties. Ingredients list for Gajar Halwa

  • 8-10 medium Carrots
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 5-6 Almonds sliced
  • 5-6 Cashewnuts
  • 10-15 Raisins
  • 1 cup Khoya/mawa grated
  • 5-6 cup Pistachios chopped

Method

  1. Place the grated carrots in a microwave proof bowl. Add ghee and mix. Add green cardamom powder and mix. Cook in the microwave on HIGH for five minutes.
  2. Add sugar and mix. Cook in the microwave on HIGH for two minutes.
  3. Add almonds, cashewnuts, raisins and khoya (keeping aside some khoya for garnish) and mix. Cook in the microwave for two to two and a half minutes.
  4. Garnish with the reserved khoya and pistachios and serve hot or cold.
