Ingredients list for Lapsi

  • 1 1/2 cups Broken wheat (lapsi)
  • 1/2 cup Ghee
  • 2-3 Green cardamoms
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cashewnuts roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup + to garnish Almond slivers
  • 1/4 cup Raisins

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick kadai, add green cardamoms and fennel seeds, mix and sauté till fennel seeds turn brown. Add broken wheat, mix well and saute on medium heat, stirring continuously, for 8-10 minutes or till it turns golden brown in colour.
  2. Meanwhile heat 3 cups water in a deep non-stick pan.
  3. Add hot water to the sauteed daliya, mix well, cover and cook, on medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add sugar, cashewnuts, almonds and raisins, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes or till the sugar melts.
  5. Transfer lapsi in a serving bowl and serve hot, garnished with almond slivers.
