Ingredients list for Lasagne

  • 8 Lasagne Sheets boiled
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 medium Tomatoes boiled, peeled and sliced
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 300 grams Cheddar cheese grated
  • 2-3 teaspoon Extra virgin olive oil
  • 8-10 slices Brinjal fried
  • 10-12 Basil leaves torn
  • 100 grams Parmesan cheese grated
  • a pinch Nutmeg powder

Method

  1. Preheat the oven at 180° C. Heat butter in a non-stick pan.
  2. Add refined flour and sauté on medium heat for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add milk gradually, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add tomato puree and mix well.
  4. Add 1 tsp garlic and mix.Heat olive oil in another non-stick pan.
  5. Add tomato slices and cook on a high heat. Add remaining garlic and crushed peppercorns and switch off heat.
  6. Add 2 tbsp cheddar cheese and mix well. Grease a baking dish with 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil.
  7. Arrange a few lasagne sheets and spread tomato sauce on them.Arrange fried brinjal slices and tomato slices on it.
  8. Sprinkle 6-7 torn basil leaves on it. Spread parmesan cheese.Sprinkle nutmeg powder and 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil.
  9. Arrange remaining lasagne sheets and spread the remaining tomato sauce.
  10. Spread remaining cheddar cheese and remaining parmesan cheese.Sprinkle crushed peppercorns and remaining torn basil leaves.
  11. Sprinkle remaining extra virgin olive oil.Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese melts.Cut into wedges and serve hot.
