Ingredients for Missal Casserole Recipe

  • Matki sprouts boiled 1 cup

  • Onions finely chopped 2 medium

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1-2

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh coconut grated 1 cup

  • Oil 3-4 tablespoons

  • Onion halved and sliced 1 medium

  • Red chilli powder 1 tablespoon

  • Garam masala powder 1½ teaspoons

  • Potato boiled, peeled and cut into small cubes 1 large

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1¼ tablespoons

  • Farsan For topping

  • Baguette cut into cubes ½

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 2-3 tablespoons

  • Processed cheese grated 2-3 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Blend together chopped onion, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and coconut with sufficient water to make a semi-thick and smooth paste.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add sliced onion and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add coconut paste, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add chilli powder and garam masala powder mix well, cover and cook till the oil leaves the sides of the pan.

Step 4

Preheat oven to 180ºC.

Step 5

Add potatoes and matki to the pan and mix well. Add ¼ cup water, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Add salt, mix well, cover and cook till the mixture turns semi-dry.

Step 7

Transfer the mixture into an oval glass baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon coriander leaves and top with lots of farsan. Arrange baguette cubes on top and press a little.

Step 8

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, processed cheese and remaining coriander leaves, place the dish in the preheated oven and bake till the cheese melts.

Step 9

Serve hot.
