Ingredients
- 1 snake gourd (padwal)
- 1/4 cup scraped fresh coconut
- 2 dried red chillies
- 2 tablespoons fennel seeds (saunf)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 12-14 curry leaves
- 1/2 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked and boiled
Method
- Slit the snake gourd vertically, remove seeds and cut into thin slices.
- Grind fennel seeds, red chillies, coconut and salt with a little water.
- Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add mustard seeds, and when they splutter, add curry leaves and mix well.
- Add snake gourd and mix well.
- Add the ground masala and little water and mix well.
- Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes, on a low heat.Add chana dal and salt and mix well.
- Cover again and cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot.
