Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Raw Banana Halwa- Sk Khazana Recipe

  • Raw bananas peeled and chopped 5-6

  • Ghee 1/4 cup

  • Milk 2 cups

  • Sugar 1 cup

  • Cashewnuts slivered, 8-10 + for garnish

  • Pistachios slivered, 8-10 + for garnish

  • Almonds blanched, peeled and slivered, 8-10 + to garnish

  • Khoya/mawa grated 1/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Slivered mixed nuts for garnish


Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add raw bananas and saute till they turn soft. Add 1 cup milk and mix well. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes or till the raw bananas are completely cooked.

Step 2

Mash the mixture with a masher till soft and pulpy. Add remaining milk and sugar and mix well. Cover and cook till the sugar melts.

Step 3

Remove the lid and mix well. Add slivered cashewnuts, slivered pistachios and blanched, peeled and slivered almonds and khoya and mix well. Cook till the mixture reaches halwa consistency. Add green cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 4

Transfer into serving bowls and garnish with slivered cashewnuts, pistachios and almonds. Serve warm.
